Hated art because I can't paint or draw.

I liked art in infants school. There wasn't much you couldn't make out of crepe paper, egg cartons and straws 🙂

From memory I only did art as an elective at school. I enjoyed it.. screen printing was my favourite thing we did (not good at drawing or painting).

I liked screen printing too. I had plans of making my own screen but it  never happened

I didn't like art class because the teacher bellowed and honked at the students all the time.  I put it down to him having hairy knuckles ...  that was in primary school so I abandoned it ... 😞

Really like that painting Kelso, the eyes are so sad and you have captured it.

thanks Tas, a friend showed me a tiny photo of her Dad, and I just had to try and paint it. He was so young and going off to war.

It's really good Pimpy, they eyes are hauntingly deep, and because of the colour of the whole piece, it really says it all.  Even from a photograph, you have  caught the emotion of the man.

but i just dont know where to begin.

Kid themed? Abstract?

??? no idea

My suggestion is to buy the little waterbased paint brush sets that children use. And then paint on A4 pieces of paper. Something simple to start with, something that you see every day, like a cup and saucer, chair or vase, or a can of Pepsi. Then once you produce something that you like, you can then reproduce it on canvas. Use a pencil to help you draw the basic outlines, which will help you to guide the paintbrush. Have fun, don't put pressure on yourself to come up with a masterpiece. 🙂

The painting looks great. :^O

Actually, that type of brush and paint set was exactly what I had in mind in my previous post above.
