I think it was a vote for common sense. What a great day for England, out of the UK and Cameron going too.

It's not about 'sharing', it is about autonomy. The ability to make your own laws, determine your own immigration policies.

As a member of EU, the UK was being dictated to by people who weren't directly elected by the British people.

Being independent doesn't mean the UK can't be compassionate, it just means they will make the decisions.

That's the way it should be.

The sky won't fall in. It will take a little while for things to settle down but one of England's main trading partners, from memory, is USA and they aren't in the EU anyway.

They won't lose that trade because guess what it is they are selling?

Neither do the 62% of scots who voted to stay in the EU.   And I don't think her looks come into it (as eloquently described in one of your later posts).    She is a strong voice and has lot of support, if not yours.

I don't think it happened in this case.

Look at it this way: In almost every referendum ever held, people tend to vote to maintain the status quo.

People, on the whole, are afraid of change.

The fact that the exit vote actually got up proves not that they will vote for 'anything' but that there were a lot of deeply unhappy citizens.

You say they will vote for anything recommended by anybody. Over the last few weeks, some of the politicians there have been intimating that the sky would fall in, that it would virtually be the start of WW3, the plague, you name it, if they dared to leave the EU.

Yet people chose to go against that recommendation.

Does it mean they think they are better than anyone else? No, I don't see it that way. They want to have more autonomy. There's nothing wrong with that. One of the last leaders hell bent on having everyone the same, under the same laws & rules, was Hitler and that didn't work out so well.

I'm not saying the EU is like Hitler, just that big isn't necessarily better. The EU has gone from a common market to a bit of a social experiment & I'd say there is big trouble brewing in Europe.

Also, keep in mind nothing stays the same forever. Not Britain, not the EU.

and dont forget people will be marrying their pets.

Bit of a disingenuous remark if you don't mind me saying so. Whinging Poms we may be, but sheep we aren't. Australia governs itself, you have no super power blue pencilling everything your government decrees. That isn't the case here. We have control over nothing, zilch, zero. This is all undertaken by the bureaucratic, interfering, and unelected directors of the EU.

The trouble with half of the Scots is that they do not want to be part of the UK. They want their own independence, hence their 2014 stab at getting it, which failed. Now they are using the EU referendum to try once more, spearheaded by the megolomaniac Sturgeon. If it hadn't been the EU, she'd have found another excuse before very long to resume the batte. If I had the powers of Harry Potter, I'd cut along Hadrian's Wall with a sharp pair of scissors, and shove the top half of the map out into the Atlantic. But this means that the contented ones have to suffer.
