It's tribalism, Esayef.

: My mob is better than your mob, my god is better than your god; my culture is better than your culture, myl soccer team is better than your soccer team - any excuse will do.

I don't have a god. I don't follow sport and I've always considered myself a citizen of planet earth. Much to the annoyance of those that insist I tell them where I'm from and if they persist I say my mother's uterus

i have a god

i see him everyday in the bathroom mirror

If you are obviously from another place other than Australia, identified either by looks or accent. why would you (perceived) as being offended by being asked where your originally came from?

Perhaps they ask because they am interested in the person, not dismissive,  They like to hear others' stories, whether they have a  US, Scottish, European, Middle East or Asian Accent.

They want you to talk to them about your  life experiences because they are interested..

Did it ever occur to you that most people who ask about you are, in fact, extending a hand in friendship?

It sounds to me like you have a suspicious nature,..... or a chip on your shoulder.

I dont follow any God any sport either, I just believe in Mother Nature and hope we dont kill her off to quickly, yes and I do hug trees I think they are beautiful, but I was very careful in Australia after being bitten by a Green Ant 🙂

No one ever asks me where I am from unless I am in another Country

My beliefs too, Lionrose.
