I'd honestly like to read what Tommy has to say, I find all the differing viewpoints interesting, but I can't handle
a huge block of text without spaces.

Re the Guardian link in #113, I am surprised at how the Australian system is much more complicated than the UK's.

You are monitored upon arrival.. your papers checked.
There is no reason why UK could not do the same. I wonder how many UK people go to European countries, especially the Nordic ones with their very generous benefits. With cost of living in the UK as it is I doubt that many Europeans can survive there, especially in places like London, without getting a job.

The idea that migrants get FREE housing has been canvassed around by various anti immigration groups for decades and is FAULSE; not just in UK, I believe it started first in Canada, but I know people here in Australia who have absolutely unshakable conviction that all refugees who come to Australia get free fully furnished house and a car.
No political party in the world would do something like that; it would be a political suicide. Of-course, people who arrive here with nothing do need some help to get themselves set up, but that is usually done by charities and refugee supporter groups.

Excuse me, but why are you making a connection between Nigel Farage saying "without a bullet being fired". and the tragic, heartbreaking, and the appalling and untimely death of Jo Cox ? How long after someone is killed by whatever means, do you suggest is a reasonable elapsed space of time before the way in which they died, is mentioned again ? You claim a week approx, yes ? That had absolutely nothing to do with it.
I'm making the connection because Farage's claimi that Brexit had been acheived without a bullet being fired was patently untrue. A bullet was fired and a woman died - and if the Brexit campaign wasn't the sole reasont behind it, no-one could deny it was a very, very major incitement in the warped mind of the perpetrator.
To suggest, only a week after the victim had beeen buried, that 'not a bullet had been fired, indicates either gross insensitiviy or a callous refusal to accept the truth
