Don't be such a pessimist, Peetepie.

Where is your Aussie spirit.

You never give up until the fat Lady sings.

The Olympics have only just began.

yeah, wait till the competitions we are really good at atart,

like the wallaby jump, the emu chase, the goanna oiling, the 200 metre plattypus swim, gum leaf playing and the avoiding the brown snake in your swag.

another bronze medal, 4 x 100mtrs freestyle mens

One has to take into consideration the population difference of both countries. Australia and the USA, and the count of Sportsmen and women of both countries that participate in the Olympics.

America is obsessed with their Sports people as much as they love their guns. They support the men and women financially, promote them to the best trainers treat them like treasures.

Our Sports men and women have to battle to make a living and pursue their sport with only the help of small organisations and clubs.

I am very proud of what our girls and boys achieve at every  lympic event.

we are a large continent with a relativly small population. we constantly show the reast of the world its not the number of people in your country but the quality that counts.comming third is not bad in my opinion.

That's not entirely true........in 1971 the IOC removed the requirement of amateurism, and since 1978 many US athletes have been permitted to receive funding for endorsments........it's not as if they have gofundme accounts on facebook. The fact that Australian companies don't have athletes endorse their products is up to those companies.

The University of Oregon, for example,  is internationally-known for its track and field teams, many of those participating come from other countries, are given scholarships, and then return to represent those countries come the Olympics.

This is interesting..........   http://www.sportsmanagementdegreehub.com/olympic-athletes-salaries/
