Slightly off topic but relevant all the same.

I recently loaded the Emergency+ app to my phone.  I saw it on tv (I think) being recommended by emergency services personnel.

I have been caught before where I needed to make an emergency call but didn't know my exact location (on the Hume highway).  The app shows you the exact long. and lat. of your location to relay to the operator.  I hope I don't ever have to use it, but I'm happy it's there if I do.

I've had it for a few years and so far I've not needed to use it. If you click on the info link it has a list of other national numbers too, like crimestoppers and the NRS (National Relay Service for hearing and speech impaired people). The NRS also has their own app which is useful for those who normally use them at home. They can now feel a little safer if they happen to be out and about alone. Unlike the Emergency+ app, you do need a phone signal and data enabled on your phone.
