I see that sort of thing happening around me, not me personally thank goodness.
Good luck, I hope he understands where you are coming from.

I can see that you are concerned that your Dad's buying is masking other more serious issues and that if it continues he may end up in financial trouble. This may or may not be the case but with everything else I understand your concern. It's easy to see that you care.
I think that if it were me I'd casually mention the five year plan, maybe ask him what he plans now and tell him that you love him and that you are there for him.

Dad is in a strange mood. He seems to be getting great joy out of annoying my sister and I.
He annoys me by calling at the exact time he knows i am cooking dinner. He talks a lot of rubbish and when i keep saying "I gotta go dad, Im dishing up dinner", he rambles on with even more rubbish.
Our last talk on Monday night resulted in me having to hang up on him while he went on and on about packet mashed potatoe.
My sister is copping it even worse. he is turing up at her house every morning at 7:30am and rings the door bell non stop till someone answers. Luckily she is up getting ready for work, but she wasnt happy when he did it on Sunday morning.
He also goes up to my 8 month pregnant niece who is asleep and puts his freeZing hands on her arm to wake her up.
Its obvious he knows its annoying us. You can tell he is getting great joy out of annoying us. Its not a new thing for him. As kids he would often stir us up just to get us angry and upset.
If he wants to push us away, he is going about it the right way
