We have 2 pianos & no Salem cannot play!  His late friend Jack the white cat died 2 months short of his 21st Birthday in 2015 & loved what we called "vibro bum" would sit on a piano & yell until someone played "Heart & Soul" for him. Then just sit there enjoying the vibes!

Our old Melbourne made Wertheim piano was his favourite! Antique redgum construction gives good vibes! He wasn't a fan of the newer Kawaii piano.

Both pianos are still in our lounge room - The antique Wertheim forever known as "Jack's Piano" No one has the heart or strength to move it!

My thoughts about my 19 1/2 yo black cat Salem is kind of like how you describe your Rudi. Salie is a pain as an old gent indoor cat; But I will hate it when he finally goes!

He's blind in one eye; Deaf as a post; & suffers from the kitty version of Altzheimer's. The worst is his "old kitty" non retractable claws (named that by the Vet). He taps along on floorboards & gets them stuck in the few rooms with carpet! & when he wants food he attaches them into any part of my body! Usually face, neck, or breasts. He also forgets he's just eaten; So his asking for food is a major problem! I sometimes lock him in my bedroom when his tum is full & I have to cook, or he's on the bench & trying to help! When younger he knew kitchen benchtops were a no go zone, but has now forgotten that rule!

I had no idea the kitty version of Alzheimer's could be so like issues for humans.  Specifically the food one.  My late father had Alzheimer's and 5 minutes after eating a big meal he would ask when dinner was because he was 'starving' and hadn't eaten 'for days'. The family suffered this with fortitude and some humour.  I'm not sure the reaction would have been the same if it had been the family cat. 😉

Wertheim pianos are real classics - made to last.  My first piano was an old German upright and in Oz conditions the soundboard cracked.  'Heart and Soul' - that takes me back.  What did he think of Chopsticks?

Perhaps you should have bought a Yamaha instead of a Kawaii.  My cat likes my old Yamaha....provided the lid is down on the keyboard, the curtain is open to the sun and the sun shines across the piano where she can stretch out in the warmth.  If I forget to dust it, I can clearly see where the cat likes to sleep.

Jack was not a fan of Chopsticks. Others of his faves were "Welcome to the black parade" by My Chemical Romance; "I don't like Mondays" by Boomtown Rats; & the theme from the Dexter TV show. Occasionally he'd trot across the open keyboard & create his own sounds! Jack too liked to sit on the Wertheim & stare @ passersby! The effect was rather like a suspended Cheshire cat whiteface from outside! We even had people knock & ask what the cat was sitting on! Wertheim is a tall piano!

Gooooooooooooooooooooo Prince Puss
