Well I am feeling very chirpy this morning. Yesterday I thought I was going to have some terrible news to impart - Marvin disappeared! all day long the web was empty and I feared either he had been plucked out of it by a bird (the wattle birds ae good at that) or crawled away somewhere to die.

I didn't know how to break the news to you, coz I knew you'd all be devastated, but this morning, lo and behold there (s)he was, back in the web as if nothing had happened.

I say (s)he because I strongly suspect we actually have a Marvina and she had gone away to lay her eggs and wrap them in a cocoon in the bushes somewhere - there does seem to be a fair bit less of her today.

Now the bad news - we probably won't have her for much longer. I googled orb spiders and discovered they have a life span of only twelve months and die in late summer/autumn after laying their eggs.

Seems to me that Master10 will not be playing soccer this winter....
The problem is partly my fault, I lodged his forms late, due to caring for my daughter at a crisis time, & somehow I developed the thought I had already lodged them. (kicks own butt)
Our local junior association placed him in a team for a school more than 25mins from our home, saying it was the only spot for him. The travel for training is a physical impossibility for me to get him there, unless I have the power to stop or shift time...
They have been rude, condescending & drunk on their power. They clearly have no intention of trying to place him in a team closer to us. The association co-ord told our school co-cord that they will not change him, & that's how it is, he said "My mind is made up", he said if my son was put on the list for his own school team, then the team would have to forfeit all their games... WHAT???

On the association website, there is only email addresses as contact. I wish there was some way to just have a conversation, so I could ask a few questions & get some answers, rather than waiting for them to answer me with the drivel & condescention they reply with. Totally unreasonable IMO.
They say ALL other teams are full, no place at all for Master10. However, I know for a fact that some schools local to us are looking for players.
I would rather them just be honest with me, just say "Forms were late, too bad". Master10 is breaking his poor little heart at the thought of not playing. They are giving him false hope by saying they are looking for a place for him. They are communicating one thing to me, then something different to our school-co-ord.

I talked with Master10 about pulling out for the season, & playing basketball instead, a casual comp. He is warming to the thought.
