A bit of rain had come through in the morning and it was miserably cold, so I went out to check on the old man bird...

This involves standing on a plastic crate, precariously, while gripping the bridge above (and not banging my head on it in the process, ha ha) and then with my spare hand wiggling a small shaving mirror back and forth to try and get a look into the doorway of the possum house...

I'd barely put the crate down and he appeared, reversing out of the tunnel, ha ha.

He has about a centimetre of clearance, either side, in the  entrance/tunnel, so once he's gone in, there's no choice but to engage reverse if he wants to get out, ha ha.

He puts my attempts at reverse parking to shame, not that I'd tell him, ha ha.

He emerged, blinking in the sunlight and said "Morning!... What a really awful day.... I'm going back inside...", and so he did, ha ha.

I figure I'll see him later in the day when the urge to eat overrides the urge to avoid the weather, ha ha.

"In a perfect world", ha ha, there'd be room enough for a large bird cage (or indeed a cage for a large bird, ha ha) in the loungeroom and then at the end of the day I could call him in and he could fly in and sit on, and maybe later sit in, his cage and fall asleep watching the telly, ha ha.

He thinks this sounds like a great idea, and on days like this when the weather's unfriendly, he could stay in, and enjoy the heater being on, too... ha ha.

What a wonderful place a "perfect world" would be (if, for no one else, an old man cockatoo...) ha ha.

As she said, it's not so much masterchef as mask-the-taste... ha ha....
