I was digging around in the garden recently and I found a decent sized colony of earthworms.

Anyway... Dad magpie has taken to stalking around the garden of late, it's not yet Spring and here he is stamping his claim... ha ha.

The old train of thought set off from the station...

I could dig the earthworms up and freeze them in manageable quantities...

At the appropriate time, I could thaw out some worms and hey presto - magpie treat...

Thirty seconds in the microwave, as long as I don't tell my wife...

She'd say a minute'd be better, ha ha.

Of course, the flaw in the plan is not taking into consideration that he'll eat three or four worms, and say "That's nice", and move on, and I'll be left with a freezer full of frozen worms... ha ha.

Good idea... Great idea.... Probably not a workable idea...

For other ideas that didn't quite work, refer to the "suggestion" that "Cockatoos Love to eat sweet potato"...

Well, let's see... Raw... No... Cooked until it's mushy... No... Fried as chips... Don't make me laugh...

Now, I'm not saying that there aren't cockatoos somewhere that love to eat sweet potato, but they're not here... ha ha.

Burt the kookaburra turned up this morning and sat on "His" perch, surveying "His" garden, and shooting a glance over to "His" readily available supply of fresh water...

"Girls like fresh water...", ha ha.

"So there's a girl...?".

"Hmmm... Maybe...", ha ha.

He doesn't give too much away, ha ha.

Imagine, if you will, that the top of it's head has been bleached to a washed out denim blue, and the rest of it's body, wings included, have been dunked in a see through orange dye...

At the moment, what the baby birds look like... They're a sight, ha ha.

Their parents left a good dozen of them in the garden, and took off... Everyone needs a break, ha ha.

I found the young ones foraging on the ground so I did the approach to the safe/respectful distance thing and said hello...

They clumped together, closer... ha ha.

I turned to walk away, and it occurred to me to ask, so I turned back - Do you guys want some food?

The tightly knit little clump of birds began to relax, noticeably... ha ha.

Well, if you're going to give us food then you can't be all that frightening after all... ha ha.
