It was baby cockatoo afternoon, again...
Mum and Dad left him here and went off to enjoy a well earned break... ha ha...
He decided to follow me around, muttering and chuckling, stopping every so often to remind the world at large that he was here - bellowing "Bah!!"...
I have some "actually lives up to it's name" multigrain bread - grain upon grain upon grain, and I thought he might like a piece...
If I gained a friend for life, ha ha, the last time he was here because I gave him something to eat when, in his words, "He was fading away to a shadow of his former self" for lack of sustenance, ha ha, then this time around I exceeded myself...
It's not only food, but due to the texture it's a tactile adventure, ha ha.

I should know better than to go out without leaving some food out...
I got home to be greeted by girl galah at the back door telling me, loudly, that a terrible crisis had befallen the garden!
The was No Food!!
She wasn't her usual playful, cheerful self, ha ha...
She danced and she pirouetted and flapped her wings and most of all she shouted at me... ha ha...
Hurry up! Hurry up! Fetch the food! The garden is bare! Oh, calamity! Oh, misfortune!
I got some food and opened the door and she scurried off towards the garden, stopping at the end of the pergola to look back and make sure that I'd actually left the house... ha ha...
I got to the designated point in the garden and her style of dance had changed from agitated to excited, ha ha...
She's not afraid to say "I came here to get something to eat and there's no food, and why aren't you remedying the situation?"... ha ha...
She's definitely one of the characters, here..
One of the old man cockatoos was chanting, yesterday... "It's quarter to four... it's quarter to four... I don't mean to be a bore but it's quarter to four..."...
I had told him I'd bring some food out about four, and it seems that quarter to four qualifies as being "about four", in his mind... ha ha...
I was looking at one of the trees in the back yard that's been dead a couple of years...
Now that the other trees are losing their leaves it's easier to see what needs to be cut away.
The big conference with the birds ensued...
Should I cut it down to about waist height or leave it around about fence height?
Fence height seems to be the popular choice... ha ha...
That way birds can jump from the fence over to the stump...
"Unless you were to put a bridge there...", they said, ha ha...
Apparently I'd have to take care bringing down the branches... not for the sake of safety so much but to preserve potential bridge and perch and rail material... ha ha.
They're always thinking ahead, those birds... ha ha...

The shallow bird bath sits some four feet, at most, away from the big bird bath...
The easiest thing to do with them is to empty and refill them at the same time...
I was refilling the big bird bath first, as it's easier with a heavy, full watering can to do it that way...
The wattlebird landed on the edge of the little bird bath and tongue out, leant forward to get a drink...
Which led to him exclaiming "Err! Yuk! There's no water! All I can taste is plastic! Err! Yuk!! I'll never get the taste out of my mouth, now!!", ha ha;...
Poor little bloke... He'll have to go to one of half a dozen other water dishes scattered around the yard to get a drink...
It's a tough life being a bird, here, ha ha...
