You got it in one!
They use the tip of their tongue the same way we use our fingertips.
They're curious birds, in more ways than one... ha ha...

Are you going out...?
Will you bring me back a toy...?
I like it when you bring me toys... ha ha...

The possum crouched on the bridge, bathed in the moonlight...
She sat upright, looking around, and there was the tell tale belly bulge...
I can't calculate these things to save myself, ha ha, but I'll say "She's a month along...", ha ha...
I'm going to have to think up a new name, now... ha ha...
If I'm not further distracted by the adult cockatoo sitting on the bridge, above my head,, who decided to start making hungry baby noises at me because I wasn't paying him any attention... ha ha... cheeky man... ha ha...
Well, it was worth a try, and at least he got me to look up, ha ha...
If you look up into the sky and you see stars, and say to yourself "They're stars", then that's good, because they are stars, ha ha....
And if you look up into the sky, at night, and in those stars, shining bright, you see the spirits of old man birds flying in the sky above the sky, then that's good, too...
Whatever brings a smile to your face, that's all that matters...
