The thing I remember most about the day was that my brother brought his best friend home with him (we lived just around the corner from the school) and the two of them continually tied and untied slip knots in my french knitting and by the end of the day it was three times as long as it started.  It was fun watching them, probably more so than the moon landing.

i vaugly remember the weeks leading up to the moon landing reading the front page information in the daily paper (wish id saved it all now)

the endless diagrams of how it was planned to go.

then watching the B/W TV of the launch and then the landing.

i was 9

 

funny but no one ever thought they wouldn't do it and get back

I guess the USA will have to make the most out of having been to the Moon.
Especially seeing has how the Chinese now own it
