Dad magpie dropped by so I offered him a piece of bread...

No, he said, not the small piece, the Big piece... ha ha...

With that firmly clutched in his beak he took off out the front.

I don't think he's going to stop half way and have a nibble... I think he might have a nobler purpose in mind...

Mother magpie... I've brought you something special...

After all these years that they've been together he still courts her, it's very sweet...

Hey ecar.
Do you still have your Pewits (Piping Shrike, Mudlark or Murray Magpie)
Mine have disappeared
I haven't heard the tap tap tap against my bedroom window as he tries to fight off his reflection

Another great video... Thanks... 🙂

Don't worry too much about the peewit.

The male peewit was in, today, but the female wasn't...

In all likelihood that's because she's foraging around someone else's back yard, ha ha...

They're both focused on putting on weight, after the Winter, because what comes next on the peewit calender, in all likelihood, is nesting.

Raising little birds takes a lot of effort, which means there won't be a lot of time to go out and grab a bite to eat, so they're getting the eating done, now...

No doubt your window tapping friend is off, out there, gorging himself, and maybe looking for that special other peewit... you never know...ha ha...

And on a darker note, maybe he won't be coming back... It's a possibility.

Death is, after all, an ever present spectre.

But you have that picture of him, in your mind... and you hold him in your heart...

So even though he may be gone, he will always be with you, a precious memory for you to cherish.

Something to remind you that no matter how wicked and cruel life can seem, there is always something good in it.

The ocean gets it's saltiness from the tears of misunderstood sharks who just want to cuddle...

It had just gone dark, last night, and it was cold, and raining just enough to be inconvenient...

Outside, at about the wrong side of the pergola roof level, ha ha, I could hear what sounded like one of those old single use plastic bags that you used to get at the supermarket being vigorously rustled...

The kind of sound that might come from someone who has managed to get their head stuck in the handle loop...

Or something worse, that I wasn't sure I wanted to try to envisage... ha ha...

I braved the dark, and the cold, and the rain and went to investigate...

There she was, cheeky Miss possum, up the bay tree...

But there wasn't a bag to be seen...

I can only suspect that she'd been rubbing the branches together, and that made the noise... ha ha...

Something to be concerned about? No... Nothing to see here... ha ha.

Just another ordinary day, ha ha...

I was going to take a quick drive over to the hill from which I can see the hills, beyond, to see if there is, indeed, snow on them, but I think I'll give it a miss...

I'll trust them, this once, that there is a light white blanket covering the land, because there's a not so light white blanket covering the land, here, and it's vocabulary for the day consists of complaining about the cold, and how I'm failing in my responsibility to keep it fed... ha ha.

Thre's a tree out the back that needs a bit of a trim...

I dug around until I found the pruning saw, and attached it to long garden stake....

It worked, but not quite as well as I thought it might... ha ha...

I pondered the situation  and thought that what I needed was to attach a pair of secateurs to the stake, and rig up some kind of string and pulley system to make it work...

That's not as easy to put together as it seems... ha ha.

I think what I'm thinking of looks a bit more like one of these... ha ha...

Well, at least I know, now... ha ha...

The saw, itself, is absolutely brilliant for the heavier pieces, but with it's big, chunky, crocodile teeth it's almost pointless trying to cut the thinner branches. I reckon I'd be better off hitting them with the saw, and trying to snap them, ha ha...

One way or another, it's all good fun...

I have one of them and it sees a lot of use but now I have a heap of branches that need cutting that it can't reach
