if he was hit by a car then surely third party insurance paid at registration should kick in.

Thats true, I didnt think of that    ..... Prob is that these peeps are probably so traumatised by everything that has happened to them, they are possibly not sure what entitlements that are able to receive    ....... IMO There needs to be far more people on the ground helping them to sort out these things    ......

Morrison and his cronies need to get around to these places, speak to the people, ask then what they need and make sure they get it asap    ..... NOT stand on a podium in Canberra trying to look like the "good guy"

Not if the reason for the trip was the burns and there was no injury due to being hit.

my biggest disgust from this guys story is his being charged to get taken to hospital!

An ambulance bill is an automated service as the paramedics only log the details and the person/service at the

other end only needs the details of the trip to send a bill.

This could be the first time anyone has heard about it so maybe something may happen to ease the burden.

This happens all the time where a story comes out and no one else knows anything about it because then it

wouldn't be of interest or wouldn't sell papers.

Reports "dig" for these type of stories as that's what pays their bills and they have the resources and capacity to

get things to where it needs to be seen or heard but most times it's I've done the story and others can sort it out

because it's time to look for another unless they can get more out of the story.

how many are waiting to be told they dont qualify for the generous govt handouts (with strings attached)

does this idiot think these organisations just hand over cash to any one who puts their hand out?

they are much like govt, they have a process to determine who is eligible.

and i bet its a lot easier than the govts version.

we are allready hearing the stories of people getting frozen out of the govt handouts.

I can understand that there has to be a process  for these handouts.

i can understand that the govt  handouts have strings attached.

The ones who are genuinely in need have to be sorted out from the freeloaders and as there would be a plethora of the latter it will take time unfortunately.

But there has been an awesome amount raised and I'm pretty hopeful that it will lall  be distributed fairly.  These charities are accountable and are being watched closely. .

Australian firefighter's message to PM Scott Morrison

Oh Oh,

The Australian Red Cross has defended its decision to spend up to 10% of bushfire donations on administration costs as “essential”, but its past fundraising history shows it has previously promised to put 100% of all money raised directly to a cause.

Facing criticism from the New South Wales Liberal MP for Bega, Andrew Constance, who nearly lost his home in the fires, for taking to taking too long to distribute $115m in donations it has received since July, the charity on Thursday clarified that it would not withhold money for future disasters.

11.5 million - essential admin costs.

That is a heap of A4 & biros.
