I've noticed also that bananas have gone from $3 per kg about 10 days ago to $4.90 now.

If you are able to do so, get a vegie garden growing, 'cause prices are going to go through the ceiling

Coming into winter will make most crops hard to grow without a greenhouse. I always found kale would grow well and can be harvested as it grows. 

ive had no trouble buying beans

i worked for around 9 years growing those crops in someones large vegetable garden. I would add rocket to the list.
