ok so you are in favour of Australian society graviting in behaviour more like the stereotype image of America ? 

How would we gravitiate there? WE have gun control, and an entirely different culture. And no NRA. Just because Americans speak a version of English doesn't make them the same as us; the country was founded by violence and violence is entrenched in their culture. Ours wasn't and isn't.

It's not hard.

To be honest - to even stereotype Australians - is beyond me - we are diverse - all colours & creeds.

The number of times I have visited the US - and that is now many - I have the same difficulty.

Perhaps move off the couch.

They really placed you in a bubble when you visited the States ! Tourists are treated differently than locals ! Another shrimp on the barbie Aussie ? 

Example ? their more open displays of patriotism , public celebration of high fliers , mindset neglectful of the poor , enshrined believe in pursuit of success ( with the clear and expected means to possibly achieve) 

Ask any foreigner who has settled here how living life here is different within the community compared to where that person has lived previously - meaning manner of living life as relating to people within the community ( not conflict affected )

I go to not only visit friends - but family & a few interesting others. lol

I get to meet their friends - family - and interesting others.

Tourism - is kind of nice.
