Going back to the issue of border closures and number of roads into and out of a state etc.

I read there are at least 50 such crossings between NSW/Vic.

My belief is if you state that a border is closed (except for work etc), then the vast majority of people will respect that. Most people are law abiding.

For those who sneak through though, wouldn't there be an easy way to tell? Their car number plate. Police would only have to see a different number plate and pull theose people over to ask them to show their permit etc. Big fine for illegals.

I'm a bit confused about the hot spots in melbourne being in lockdown. I live in city of Casey, which borders Cardinia. Both were being touted as hot spots but I noticed none of the sth east has been shut down. Very grateful actually. I don't live in Hallam or Pakenham, which were the  specific suburbs named, but the reality is once this virus gets going or out of control, the numbers could go up anywhere. It won't top at postcode borders.

If things do get more out of hand, maybe they could have a metropolitan lockdown but leave regional centres more open.

Currently-they need to speed up waiting times for tests and speed up test results to people to 2 days wait, max. That is, if they want people to stay in isolation till results come through, which is what they are asking of a lot fo people. Not the random testing, i would imagine, but those who present for a child's cold or whatever.

So lockdown is smoke and mirrors , relative to what needs to be done to stop the spread and eliminate the pest

Would it be not better just to embargo with due diligence those suburbs - before we get carried away with the whole State . Actually rather than the whole State why not just Melbourne - is their mess
