Jane, I worked it out like this:

Unadventurous chef is a person who would probably stick to boiling things in a pot; no frying or roasting or searing, just boiling.

Book for the unadventurous = pot boiler. Not a literary work, just an easy read designed to appeal to readers who aren’t interested in a challenging work.

Cookery could be described at its most basic as being pot boiling… chef at its most basic is a pot boiler… and it all slid nicely into place for me in my (sorry, Sherlock!) mind palace.

SNAP!

Also, another definition is, "A book, film, or other creative work produced solely to make the originator a living (money) by catering to popular taste."

So Pot Boiler is a double-entendre.

I think it's quite clever.

Well - come on....................😉

“Ooooh, my little basic chef, you really do boil my pots!”

(Double entendre at work, especially if accompanied by a disrespected father figure… er… Lear/leer)

Was that the cryptic - or another on - pot boilers. ????

How many letters if so. lol

I'm putting forward an answer to countessalmirena's puzzle LOL. 😄

BUT - was that actually the clue - geez she's slack. 😂

The one quite a few posts ago about the Chinese instrument is the countess' clue.

The one about boiling her pots was related to the conversation re pot boilers.

Very confusing when we all have a conversation in between clues   😵
