tried to type jitterbuggas but couldn't. spelt it correctly....wonder if this will get through? they made me tired just watching.
I am having flashback to the Rock and Roll and Jitterbug wearing full circle skirts made out of reversible ( different colour each side) felt with white blouse and a scarf tied around the neck and white bobby sox and flat shoes.

Yes indeed grandmoon and the cumberband too pulled firmly around the waist to make it look like you'd break in the middle..

I used to love square dances. It meant that you actually got to touch the boys and get up close to them. And you didn't have to wait to be asked to dance.

Does any one remember some of the old biscuit names? - Yo-Yo's and proper Bush Biscuits that cost 3 pence (a trey bit it was called).- 3 inches long a bit over 2 wide and a good 1/4 of an inch thick. I used to buy them on the old Jetty at Semaphore in South Aussie - one was a meal for a six year old. And Freddo Frogs? - proper ones - not like the junk you get these days - if you can still get them at all. What about the old currency nicknames - trey, sixpence, a bob, two bob, ten bob and a quid? I wonder how many remember when petrol was 2 bob a gallon? I still mourn the passing of Violet Crumbles and Polly Waffles. Yep - I do ramble on 🙂

Well I'm back again - up late and watched Hewitt lose 😞
Glad I read through all the posts since my last post, as I had a good laugh, after a horrible day (yesterday now 0 so today's a new day!!!). Not going there though.
Now trying to remember all the posts. Hmmm! Bet the person who changed how threads worked is about 19 - hard to remember it all when you are a Senior 😞
Darki - thanks for your kiss for my 1st ever snipe.
Rich - Many thanks for your future prize - hope it's a few years away, so you will have to keep it on hold for me, so to speak! :^O. We used to have a Valiant stationwagon with a bench seat in the front but no "messages" on it - we had 4 kids, that's why we bought it. The motor was still going great when we had to drive it onto the junk yard as it was sooo rusty - had more bog than body :^O.
I was trying hard to make something else out of those letters - had something to do with "knocin" and "rockin" - so probably along the same vein :^O
My favourite biscuits were Chocolate Delta creams - I used to pinch a couple out of the paper bag walking back from the corner shop - makes me feel bad now, as we weren't well off and Mum loved them also. One day, I ate the centre out of a half loaf of bread, and told Mum, Mr Finn, our grocer, said he was sorry, but there had been rats in the shop - don't think she believed me. We called the grocer "Fatty Finn in the Biscuit Tin" because he was fat.
We used to buy our groceries from the corner shop and usually by Friday, had to put whatever Mum bought "on the Book", as Dad got paid Friday nights and wouldn't be home until after the shop shut. If it wasn't fish and chips Dad bought home for tea, it was frankfurts from the shop and mashed potato.
Yes, it was sad losing my sister - one of the reasons I visit the Cancer Thread - Hi JV - can imagine how you must be feeling "Burnt out".
Well, best get off here - I was supposed to be listing tonight, but haven't listed a thing!!!
Can't remember who posted what a happy thread this is, but yes it is. Big Wave to all you lovely Seniors and the few "young-uns" who have ventured in.
Must go - "My eyes are dim, I cannot see, I have not brought my specs with me" - not quite true, as I have them on!!!!
Sure fun doing a spell-check when posting here - doesn't even recognise frankfurt, let alone other words - wouldn't recognise those money names Grumpy!!!

Many of us kept in touch with their families for years afterwards trying to help them through their unbearable grief.

Yes I mourn the passing of Violet Crumble bars too grumpy, I think it was my Dad that shared the first one I ever had with me. Proper Freddo Frogs too, can't be bothered with the rubbish nowadays ...
Do you remember the old Arnotts biscuit tins with the picture of - was it? - a girl looking at a girl... can't remember now, but it used to capture me because it went on and on as if she was looking in a mirror... can anyone help me?
And the Rosella tins with the parrot?
Who remembers the 'modern' Kookaburra stoves? Still love the old wood stove cooking more tho.

Hi JV 🙂 good to see you here I didn't expect it knowing you were spending time with your aunt and uncle...
My father's parents used to entertain the British officers off the ships in WWII and I can still remember some of them, particularly one who introduced me to chewing gum :^O
After dinner the men used to retire to the 'smoking room' where they would light up their pipes and have a port.
I used to sneak in with them and enjoy the smell of the pipes.
At the dinner table I remember my grandfather showing me how to eat peas off my knife without cutting my mouth on the sharp edge... I think my mother and grandmother must have been otherwise occupied or they would have stopped him :^O
