It is an interesting thought Darkie, but I really don't think that could be the case. Even if it were possible, OH had been working between when Tyson came home and when he had his tests done, so had little contact with him. I'm just so worried about OH. We are only in our 20s, we have 3 little kiddies. I know that he will most likely be fine, but it is a hell of a lot to deal with 😞
Oh dolly 😞 you are both so young to be coping with this and three littlies as well... it's such a hard row to hoe.
You can always contact me member to member if you would like to keep in contact, you know I would be there for you xxxxx

Do not let anyone move into his house under any circumstances. Not sure if you are aware of it, but if she can prove that your FIL's house was her only place of abode she can end up living in it as long as she pleases or get a very good share of it from his Will.
I feel for you...I have had problems with a family member's will that have been ongoing for years.
As a pensioner your FIL will have to pay a bond..usually financed from the sale of his home....you don't want someone else living it it or you will have to find the bond money elsewhere.
There is a lot of information available about Nursing Homes and their costs on seniors.gov.au or agedcareaustralia.gov.au which should cover Queensland as well as NSW.
Good information there Lyndal, there is so much to consider isn't there and I agree, NEVER EVER let someone move in with a family member they could gain so much they are not entitled to, and I agree no one wants a family member or friend dealing with personal problems.
Yes do make sure you have a person who can be Power of Attorney,, your lawyer is the best bet and there is also a 'guardian' ... bluddy hell, I can't remembe the name of the institution, but you can get your lawyer to be your guardian if you lose your ability to live and make your own decisions... I have both these in place.
I have already got plans in mind if, by the time I'm free of the dogs (about 10 years) and if I'm not able to stay here I will sell and move closer to amenities.. we have to be prepared to let go when it becomes necessary and sometime it is better to do it while we can make up our own minds 🙂
Well, it's no good avoiding these subjects, it's all part of being seniors and being sensible.. is it not?

Jackass, I responded with an incredibly benign response to your post #947, but it disappeared. Maybe somebody misunderstood me calling your restored car the nickname you gave it.

Oh Blimey! don't tell me we have a button pusher here? That's the last straw, surely at our ages we can say as we think or feel without some little harridan deciding we have overstepped the mark.
Maybe they just don't know the language freshwater?
I have had a reasonably quiet day today doing ancestry.com which I know Gil is doing too 🙂
Did plant out three pittrostroms as I slowly shut the neighbours out of sight ]:)
but other than that absolutely nuffin' Oh! I am reading Wilbur Smith's book The Eye of the Tiger, that's keeping me off the streets and out of mischief :^O

Darkie, I think you might mean the Guardianship Board? Do not get involved with them under any circumstances if you can avoid them.
If you thought dealing with Centrelink was a pain, you ain't seen nothing till you have tried to deal with the Guardianship Board. My parents had to deal with them over the affairs of one of Dad's aunts. It was a nightmare that I still remember even though I was only a teenager at the time.
The Public Trustee is marginally better if you have absolutely nobody else to administer your Will...at least it will not be you having to deal with them.
I am talking here about NSW but I imagine they are much the same everywhere.
My father's cousin was a top QC in Sydney back in the 60's and 70's and he always told us that the law is an ass...I can not count the number of times since then that I have proved him right, especially in the area of Wills and probate.

Lyndal, NSW Trustee and Guardian is what it is now called and nothing has changed, they are idiots of the finest calibre.
I would never put myself in their incapable hands.

OK Richo...here we go again....... with moderations..
Hi again Jackass. No,, my Barbie car is white and the really sweet sounding motor talks with a forieign accent. I am very interested in your (car).. I am going to check it out on the web. A boyfriend in a distant past life of mine had a Lagonda two seater. We used to whizz around the Sydney easten suburbs with the top down and five of us in it. We couldn't get away with it today. But it was such fun.....but wasn't everything in those days?
