'morning all you great survivors out there.
Darki & Gillie.....I think we are kindred spirits in our values..
Yes the northern beaches sure have changed. Used to be a laid back area. How it is anal retentive with all those lovely houses being pulled down and replaced with muti million dollar fortresses once the City Mobbers came across the bridge..
Do you remember the shops right a Freshie beach....all gone now. I remember Ruthie's hairdresser in a row of timber shops.
The Sunday afternoon concerts at that shell autatorium at Manly beach opposite the ice skating rink?.
All the locals (in our swimmerrs) used to site on one side, and the city mobbers at the other. We never watched Johnny O'Keefe et al perform...we were too busy watching the city mobbers.
That 1946 bushfires....it was awful. It was referred to as Black Friday. I remember laying on the floor to escape the smoke.

Oh, and I remember a mob of us sitting in the surfboat being towed by a truck....on our way to a surf carnival. Can you imagine that being allowed today?

morning all♥
yep freshy. I remember those concerts in the Shell at Manly.
We didn't call them City Mobbers....more like 'Westies":-D think my kids did the same.
Remember Freshwater.....about 7 years ago my son used to live there and we walked to the beach...it looked very peaceful and quiet then.

Who remembers the Sydney Royal Easter Show????
the sample bags for 1/- (10¢) and all the mini samples in the bags?
The sheep and cattle and huge vegetable displays
the rides?
Oh those early days were wonderful... later it seemed to lose momentum
