Remember Darki The Beaumont children...........after that, parents had second thought about letting their children out alone, as they disappeared in broad daylight.
It is a shame that kids today cant grow up in the freedom that we had as children, before all these horrible things happened.
The world is a sad place now.:-(
Yes the Beaumont children...Adelaide, 1966 3 of them vanished suddenly and were never found.

There you are terra... 🙂
You are so right moon it is a sad place and seems to be more and more as Auldus Huxley described in Brave New World. Anyone read it? It was hair raising at the time.

Oh yes, he was my favourite author.. And don't forget "1984".and 'Doors to Perception". There was a funny story around at the time about one of his relatives (maybe his father) who held a Chair at either Oxford or Cambridge. He was giving a lecture on the Hottentots in Africa including the male physical characteristics. Some of the female students walked out of the lecture hall in disgust and the Professor called out to them......don't rush ladies...there isn't another boat until next week.

I have been a lurker on this thread since it started and have enjoyed reading your stories of your wonderful childhood. I grew up in the same time frame and very sadly had a different childhood. I was one of the "Forgotten Australians" as a child and your wonderful memories are like a fairytale to me. There were quite a few Australian children of this period who did not know such a life was possible. The only way that I and others can believe that childhood is meant to be happy and secure is by reading stories like yours. So thank you.
