Cooking Question

The recipe states a stick of butter.

What is a stick of butter ??

4oz or 125 gms

Thanks

errr ...   a stick of butter is 250grams, the whole of the small block

used to be able to get twice that much, came as a square block.

wot's this recipe for, is it a yank recipe.

depends if your using an american recipe

In the US butter is packed in a 1 pound box with 4 individual sticks wrapped in a greaseproof type paper

Maybe this might help.

We have similar here too.  I buy the Western Star brand for cooking.  It has 4 individually wrapped blocks of butter each weighing 100gm.

That is slightly less than an American "stick" but close enough.

Definitely 4 oz if it is an American recipe
