The post about trams rang a bell with me - used to cost me tuppence in the tram from Central to Sydney High at Moore Park!

rosie. Our son and DIL live at Moore Park and we were there at Christmas. We took a taxi from Central to Bourke Street and it cost $35. A bit different from your tuppence.

My nephew also lives there Jean! 

Before my time, in the dim dark ages, Sydney High School grounds were the Sydney Zoo.  We used to have our lunch in the bear pit!

We  were banned from going into the bear pit when I was there...too dangerous.

I can remember the lower grounds flooding during heavy rain...where the duck ponds used to be.

I think it used to cost 6d from Maroubra to Moore Park on the trams and about the same when the trams were taken off and we had to use the bus.

Wow Rosie I had no idea that the Sydney High School grounds were once the Sydney Zoo.. how incredible... ah yes, lunch in the bear pit, sound like my sort of scene :^O

Who ever would have believed $35 for a taxi?  gosh things have changed.

I wonder what will happen over the next 20 yeas as we grow towards our twigs and so do the young and smart :^O
