Our dear boy Tango was given his wings at 10am this morning.

We had him for an extra week and whilst he did have some goodish days, he also had some bad days and we realised we were being cruel and keeping him here for us.  He was able to enjoy some of his most favourite treats last night and this morning (I cooked him sausages and eggs for breakfast) and slipped away in my husband's and my arms up at the vet's this morning. He is so incredibly missed. :_|

I just feel numb.

Screech is doing just fine, still alternating his time between the tree and the trellis, and flying down to be fed each morning and night. However he is catching his own bugs as well, last night when I was locking up the chooks and he flew down beside me and snatched a bug. I hadn't even seen him fly down, hubby had to warn me not to step on him.

Will post an updated pic soon.

So very, very sorry to read of the loss of your beloved Tango. My deepest sympathies to you during this sad time.

It’s Never Easy

It's never easy to say good-byes
When they speak to us with their eyes.
When their bodies are tired, weak and old,
And the love we've shared becomes pure gold.

The measure of friendship is put to the test,
When the showing is finished and it's time to rest.
From deep in their hearts their eyes will ask,
" Please ease my pain " - your most difficult task.

There's joy in the memories, treasure them all,
Winning a ribbon or chasing a ball.
So go now, you're free, to run and to play,
Where the sun always shines, day after day.

For the Master you serve now is gracious and fair,
And he'll love you and guide you until I am there.

So sorry monsters, but I'm glad you were both there with Tango

I have been following your last journey with Tango, Monsters. It is so hard I know. My heart reaches out to yours. I join with all your many well-wishers in praying you will find comfort in even the smallest things. Cry as often as you need to and don't try to hold it back. Get as much rest as you can.

monster I am so sorry to hear about tango but am glad you were both there to say good by and that you got to spend an extra week with him.

Thank you so much for your lovely posts and kind words :-x

Although we still have seven doggies at home, Tango has left a huge hole and the place seems so quiet and empty without him. He was one of those very special dogs that you only get once or twice in a lifetime, so although I miss him dreadfully, I am trying to focus on the fact that we were so lucky to have him for as long as we did and he was pampered and loved and enjoyed life to the fullest.

RIP lovely boy.
