I will not purchase from a seller who uses them. My experiences have been very average with them.

While buyers do have the option of buying from whoever they choose, you seem to be a tad confused. When it comes to shipping methods for their eBay sales, sellers don't use Sendle - buyers do.
To clarify, the buyer actually selects and pays for their chosen shipping method during checkout. The seller simply packs and sends on behalf of the buyer.

I just purchased from a seller who said they were using AP. They actually used Sendle. I was very dismayed, but for once Sendle were on the ball and the parcel arrived quickly.

It depends on how the seller advertises postage.
And whether or not the buyer has a choice.
And, most importantly, whether the seller advertises AP and uses Sendle.
Very common.
So your defence in untenable.

Yes, that's exactly what just happened to me. Seller advertised AP & then used Sendle. Luckily it arrived quickly.

So why haven't you left the big red dot they deserve? There's really no other appropriate option for an item not as described.
I'd also be insisting on the cost of AP postage be refunded. This was included in your purchase price, yet it wasn't used.

I see people complaining of that, but they're generally just not using their nous.
If the buyer's primary delivery address is a PO Box, Parcel Collect or Parcel Locker then the seller can't use Sendle - it's an impossibility.

That's my business. And no-one else's.
It was free postage, so that negates your second point. (And yes I know there's no such thing as 'free postage')

No it does not. You paid for the Australia Post service and didn't receive it. You are entitled to a refund of an amount equal to the Australia Post price for the service the seller didn't use.
There is no way the seller could pull such a shonky move if you had used an AP only delivery address... and other buyers really do deserve to be warned about their shenanigans.

Storm in a teacup. The item arrived quickly and in perfect condition.
Ebay wouldn't see 'Free postage' as me paying for it even if I tried.
