I find the thread title "silly bids" extremely offensive, there is nothing silly about my bids and I bid early to wipe out the BIN option and that to me is very sensible.

Some of the bidding of items on here is absolutely ridiculous! And when one buyer really wants an item, but not pay too much, then i have noticed that same bidding id come up time and time again, bumping up the price to *their* limit (say $400) then losing out at the last minute...where as, if that buyer had sat on it until the last 5mins, then whacked on their 4400 bid, they might have got the item at half that price!

It really irks me to see an auction with 8 days to go and already 15 bids, but only sitting on $2 or $3 dollars because some nit-wit has *increased* their highest bid 10 times already!!

Some buyers would bid early to stake their claim and keep bidding to put the watchers off from bidding. It can be a tactic.

I only bid late, if I don't forget! Or I watch items and buy it now when I am ready to purchase it
