Restricted Items

I received a email from ebay again saying that a item I purchased has been deemed to be restricted and will not be sent nor returned to the owner.

This has now happened several times and we are talking about gold jewelry which is not a resticted item to import into Australia.

What is stopping someone in the UK where I purchased the product liking it and then taking it for themselves at the postage stage ?

There is no way for me to appeal and get more information and it comes across as pure theft.

Ebay comes across as a web of deception with their time wasting nonsense which states.

We don't check this mailbox, so please don't reply to this message. If you have a question, go to Help & Contact.

Help and contact is a circle of rubbish.

Just like any automated help system, eBay help only becomes a loop when you instruct it to do so.

Being bot driven, each option it provides or landing page is determined solely by your personal input. As long as your input remains the same, so will the result.

The bots aren't mind readers, and they never make assumptions. Rather, by identifying keywords which you provide, they select whichever option most closely relates to your input.

If you wish to achieve different results, you simply MUST change your input.

If the gold is likely to contain nickel, it may be classed as restricted due to health and safety concerns.

But I suspect that this may be an origin / global supply chain issue with concerns about slave labour or child labour involved in the mining or processing. It depends upon the item, any historical association, lack of certificate of origin, etc.

You can post the item number here, and we can check the listing to see if any potential issue pops out.

It is hardly theft.

You will be refunded and the seller will not be required to fund the refund. eBay will keep the item.
