Surely you know your bid can't be changed without retracting your original bid ?

As it is only a difference of $2.00 just leave it to run. If someone else bids your bid will only go up incrementally so the most you will end up paying if you win is $10.00 or you may only end up paying $6.00. For $2.00 why would you bother?

I have the same puzzle. Because I assume there are no ways to cancel my maximum bid I ask myself to be very careful.

What if I mistakenly put in $100 rather than $80 while the current bid is only $60?  Can someone change his maximum bid by re-entering it or something?  It makes sense (and I think it is technically possible) for ebay to develop intelligence to detect the bidder's desire.

you cannot really 'mistakenly' put in $100 rather than $80 as when you put in your bid, you get the 2nd window asking you to 'confirm' you would of course check that before hitting the confirm button

a genuine 'mistake' in bidding is usually when someone wants to bid ten dollars ($10.00) but accidentally bids one thousand dollars because they miss the decimal point.   That is a mistake. but $100 instead of $80 is NOT A MISTAKE

yours was a silly reply, sorry, what do you think we are doing here on Ebay? because we all like the pretty colour combos of the Ebay logo, NO! its because we can save a couple of dollars. Why say , for only two dollars why bother? but your the one who drives to the next servo with a fuel docket to save $1.50 on a tank of fuel,weve alldone it.i work damn hard for my money, and im not going to let anyone else get more than thir entitled to.
