As the op suggests ,this of course is nothing more than an attempt on the part of some sellers to gain an advange through intimidation......period.
No, I'm sure the OP was talking about feedback by intimation. That's what the title says. And if you have read all 190 odd posts to this thread you would know that eBay allow buyers and sellers to leave feedback when they choose, or not at all, or even (for sellers) to set up automatic feedback leaving AFTER the buyer has left feedback.
This thread was started before you were even a member. What value do you think dragging it up yet again, especially when your OPINION is not supported by eBay, has?

I find it interesting that the bumper reckons this is a recent issue. For them - the thread was started before they even joined.
Apart from the fact that feedback for a buyer only is a score, not a reflection on business practices. As they don't have one on eBay.

I totally disagree.
The buyer will receive positive feedback regardless.
As a seller I choose to provide my feedback once the transaction is complete.
This way if there is an issue it can be dealt with first.
And the feedback from both sides can be more accurate.
Furthermore there is no incentive for the buyer to leave feedback, once they have the item, if they already have received their feedback.
There are many cases whre the seller misses out on feedback, due to the buyer simply forgetting to do so.
I do not see how a seller is required to leave feedback before the completion of the transaction.
This is how I conduct my business on eBay & is my opinion, only !

Isnt the answer to this simple ?
FEEDBACK is not Compulsary.
