You don't say what the dimensions are, if it is over the maximum for AP it will have to go by courier and to use a fully on line trackable delivery service is expensive. You don't say how far your pinball machine was travelling and you don't say what kind of tracking and insurance you had.

Bottom line is as long as the seller is up front about the delivery cost it is up to you if you buy or not.

It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.

See what a trendsetter I am?

I don't know if it is excessive or not.

I do know that about 9 years ago, my sister and I sold a desk on ebay. It was an artist's type desk which could be folded down and was sold as pick up only, but you guessed it, someone interstate bought it.

Then she asked us to arrange a courier. My sister rang around and got quotes and the cheapest she could find locally was one where you took it over to the centre, packed it yourself and handed it to them, and that cost about $120 back then. The buyer was shocked and then did her own search (pity she hadn't done it prior to bidding)

There was another one which the buyer then wanted us to use as it was only about $90, but it was a good 2 hour round trip to get there and my sister refused. The lady wasn't happy, sent us an email later to say the desk wasn't worth all the expense she had had to pay out, which is probably true as the desk only cost $70.

But I am not sure it was our fault.Smiley Sad

Strange how you got a price of over $700.00,my wife has ordered 320 7" records from Yanchep in W.A. the distance is 2,743km and the postage cost is $48.00.

I bet they don't weigh 22kg though (the maximum weight acceptable by AP).

The prices quoted came from AP's on-line postage calculator and are accurate. Check them yourself.

If you look again, you'll see that I was making a comparison on the price difference between the same 22kg parcel sent locally (within 75km), and to WA which is about as far as it can go on mainland Australia.

For my hypothetical comparison I used the maximum allowable weight of 22kg and the same acceptable dimensions of 100cm x 50cm x 20cm but altering those dimensions seems to have made no difference when it came to cubing, as the postage prices to both locations remained the same.

simple solution:..if you dont like the post price or think its tooooo much, quite simply "dont buy"..you do have an option.
