any ideas?

I placed a bid on some dvds that have been relisted and on checking the bids on the original listing the person that won is the same person that has bid on the relisted item. Any ideas why this would be?.

shill bidding - Phone & report it to ebay just in case!

Or you can use the report link on the listing and ebay will have a look at it.

As said, possibly shill bidding. Which is when the lister has someone bidding up the price for them.

Could also be the seller didn't want to sell at a low price and is trying again. Against the rules of course.

How can you possibly tell if it's the same person when the bidder's ID's are all masked?

same mask!, its not rocket surgery.

But how do you know what the seller's masked ID would be?

feedback scores are not masked, the chances of two bidders with same score and same letters in mask, bit like dna.

Has happened. A couple of month's ago, actually.

With 140,000,000 registered ebay users worldwide, the chances are extremely high.

Click on the bidder's 'mask' - it will show you a 30-day bidding history, including percentage of bids with that seller.
