Unnecccessary emails

When buying items on eBay there seems to be at least 4 emails sent for the one transaction.

One email confirming you have just placed a bid. IMHO not required as you are actively bidding

Second email to notify you that you have won the auction

Third email confirming your order and and payment

and a fourth email from PayPal.

You profile space has the facility to show what your bidding , winning and have brought

Surely two emails should suffice. One email for when you have won or brought it now, and considering eBay now owns PayPal, the second email could contain the order, payment and PayPal receipt.

Yes, I agree; I get so much rubbish from eBay that sometimes something important gets lost. But that is why eBay introduced the automatic 5 star if there is no communication with messages, in hope that there will be less of unnecessary emails.

Yes, there can be email overkill on eBay!  Thankfully you should be able to change what notifications you get via your my ebay page and communication preferences.  That way you can minimise the number of emails you get and just get the most important ones. 😄

100 million billion per cent agreed that the ebay auto communciation guff is at a high level of annoying - and too boot its a CARP effort for communication.

Like many other things that ebay do, I do not understand why a buyer can not have control over the entire selection of emails that they choose to receive- of course except for the winning advice one 😄

Paypal only send the one which is the most important to me for my business and personal finance records.

I reckon one from ebay when you when and one from paypal if you pay that way would be selection.

the edit function on these boards is CARP and annoying tooooooooo

What edit function?

Seriously, is there an edit function?!

sure, when you type in a post you can preview the post before posting.  If you wish to make changes you hit the GoBack/Edit button.  Unfortunately, if you do not preview the post once changes are made it posts the original un-edited post.  Thus, the edit function does not work as it should.
