Sigh...So many places to fish, so little time!
I've fished all along the NSW coast - particularly from Forster-Tuncurry northwards - and love it all! Trouble is, She Who Must Be Obeyed loves the Gold Coast more!

Who cares what SWAMBO thinks, it's not about her LOL!!! Why would she want to live on the Gold Coast and be invaded by those wretched schoolies every year? I know it's only a few weeks a year, but it's enough to turn me off ever living there. That and the cost of living 😄

I only live a 20-minute drive from the GC but I flatly refuse to go there and haven't set eyes on the place for the last 10-12 years or so. It's loud, overpriced, gaudy, and the beaches are all stuffed as well.

Perhaps I should be more specific!
When I say the Gold Coast, I'm actually encompassing the area from roughly Tweed Heads, to around Coomera. Not too specific, I know, but the general area is where I'm alluding to. and when we stay, usually at Burleigh Heads, the atmosphere's a lot more laidback.
We've been there at the same time as Schoolies, and again during the Grand Prix - and by avoiding the glitter and lights of Surfers itself, still managed a quiet and relaxing break. There are certain areas between Burleigh and Tweed I could easily see myself retiring!
And if I want a peaceful existence, then SWMBO...must be obeyed!

this post seams to be a fishing show can you help me.
this was on tv a while ago ,and its hard to believe, a couple were out fishing on a boat when the girls ring fell of her finger into the water , they fish all the time , 2 years later they caught a fish as they gutted it ,bingo the ring was inside the fish, my question is can a ring last that long in a fishes gut, then what would the odds of catching that fish be anyway.

I reckon I'd have to call B/S on that one, Joe - great plot for a TV show, but in reality...? A bit like all those old ghosthunting shows they had on - lots of film clips and things that go bump in the night, but very, very little hard evidence.
However, as gold doesn't corrode in seawater or stomach acids, being a 'noble' metal, and any stones would also have similar properties, it is possible - just highly improbable.
It's a bit like the old pub tale of two fishos, one claiming to have caught a 50-pound snapper. His mate, without blinking, stated he'd caught an old ship's lantern - still alight!
When his mate called him on it, he agreed to blow out the lantern, if his mate shaved 30 pounds off his snapper!

Be more of a worry if you found a ring in a sharks guts, as you would wonder what it was attached to when it went in there.
As it is gold wouldn't corrode like fishing hooks, it wouldn't pass through the guts of anything but a big fish, and it wouldn't kill the fish. as for the odds of same people catching that fish same two years later pfffft
ASSUMPTION IS THE MOTHER OF ALL STUFF UPS!!
