Went to Paypal site and looked up "Payment pending" and it said that this is done if possiblility of a fraudulent action on part of buyer. So why this has happened I'm not sure. Wonder if anyone else has struck this before.

Michelle, you have been told several times.....the payment is shown as pending because you used your bank account as the funding source without a credit card attached to your paypal account to allow the payment to clear instantly.

Everyone who pays this way will have the payment shown as Pending until it clears in a few days. time.

You are not being singled out.....it happens to all of us who use bank funding without a credit card attached.

Smiley LOL  Not quite right Crow....my other half is Canadian and all his family is in Canada or the USA.  I have been using the Canadian postal service for nearly 40 years and know all it's faults.....it is painfully slow and horribly expensive, even more expensive than Australia Post.

The echeque still hasn't cleared and seller is away for one week from this Monday so I will have to wait til she returns. She has messaged me and said wait till I return and see if I can work it out, then, with you. Doubt very very much if this echeque will clear whatsoever. So wait for next step.

The echeque will clear provided you have the funds. It is not the seller's fault you lost your credit card. Do you expect them to put he life on hold due to your negligence?

I really, really want an answer to my question.

I did another purchase at the same time with echeque and there was no discrepancy with that one, so this beats me.

What discrepancy are you talking about Michelle?

There is nothing different or strange about the transaction as you have described it so far.  It may take a few days longer for an echeque to clear to a Canadian Bank than a local bank but I did warn you before you even asked the seller if they would post to Australia that it would be a long slow process.

As for the echeque not clearing.....that is entirely up to you.  If the money is in your bank account the it will clear.  If the money is not there then you can expect your bank to impose fees for an overdrawn account.

But didn't you say a few days ago that the funds had been withdrawn from your account?

Yes funds have been drawn from my bank so I presume seller would have received it.

Michelle, please read what we have been telling you.....If the echeque is still showing as Pending then the seller has not yet received cleared funds and will not post the item.

What is so difficult to understand about all this?   It happens all the time if a buyer does not have a credit card attached to their paypal account.   It may take longer than usual as there is an overseas bank involved....who knows how long they will take to process the echeque.

Your transaction is not unusual and all will be well if you just settle down and wait for the money to clear to the seller.  Coming here with the "what ifs" and "maybes" will not make it happen any sooner.

Your bank to their clearing bank

Bank's clearing bank to Paypal's clearing bank

Paypal's clearing bank to Paypal's bank account

Paypal's bank account to seller's Paypal account.

Add in a currency exchange and why you would expect the seller to have received the payment when only step one has been completed I can't imagine.

Further update: Have requested a refund through resolution centre as payment has not reached the seller. Seller has now opened an unpaid item case. Have till 16th June to pay. So I should get my new Visa card latest on Tuesday, then pay that way. This is getting now all rather tedious and frustrating but I hope everything turns out.
