If it is a very recently posted item the tracking sometimes doesn't kick in for a while.

Give it 24 hours and then try again.

contact the seller and ask is the tracking number correct, its easy to make an error when typing in a tracking number.

they gave a wrong site to track on but it's fixed now

tracking number was correct but the site wasn't

I wouldnt bother chasing it up, No such thing as tracking a parcel,  tracking is seeing where your parcel is at the moment, that doesnt exist. Tracking is knowing where something is between A and Z, eg now its at D, now P, now X, it just doesnt do it, all what tracking does is tell you its been posted at the PO and when its arrived. Wheres the tracking?  You can get the same thing by registering your email with aus post,  you then get an email saying you have a parcel.

Apart from the fact that the OP has come back and confirmed that they are now able to track their parcel, your advice is completely inappropriate.

Tracking IS available on parcels sent through Australia Post

Not sure which site you look at, or which rock you're under, but I have no issues with tracking. In fact, everytime there is a tracking event, I get a notification on my phone via the My Post app. Unless it's something going to a neighbouring area, I get tracking notifications most days, even if it's stuck at Chullora for a few days.

If I give the PO the buyers email address at time of posting, they get emails every time there is a tracking event. The few I have done it for thought it was great. They didn't need to keep checking the AP site if they wanted to see where their parcel was up to.

i rekon the members who believe traking does excist and works would be in the thousands. the number of members who believe tracking is a fake at the latest count is, um, 1

I want anyone to show me (via screen snapshot)  the towns that this so called tracking  provides, , where the parcel was posted,  a few towns in between and when it arrives at its destination. For example, the parcels posted in melbourne and destinations Mildura, then  if its proper tracking that every one suggests it is then it should show ballarat, St Arnaud, swan hill, Ouyen, mildura, (final destination) as an example. Ive only seen it when its been posted and when its arrived , nothing inbetween.
