Seller rage ?

I usually get annoyed when sellers don't read a message & questions carefully & I have to send more messages (feeling like a nag) to get the answers I need

Tonight took the cake

I have been researching bromeliads & want to make a bulk purchase. All the sellers have different postage rates & of course you want to know what you're up for for additional plants. Some make it wonderfly clear in their listing. One I contacted didn't.

After 2 polite questions about the cost of postage for additional bromeliads, I got an somewhat abusive response accusing me of not reading the listing (which only states to "check with us for combined postage rates"!) & ranted on. I guess that I really should have run for my life & just ignored her. But... I simply responded that all I was asking for was the postage cost per extra plant & gave as an example that some dealers had an all inclusive postage while others charged $ to $3 per plant ,& all I needed was clarification. I was very polite.

This is what I got (what did I do? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ):

something I dont do especially since ebay went mad! I have also blocked you from buying because I dont sit here waiting to get abused by troublesome buyers waiting to get their nose out of joint and leaving a negative over some other sellers rates, we charge only what it costs as is and dont subsidise post not when a parcel starts at $10.50 by express mail which many customers appreciate so if they want to lower there profit by posting for $8.00 that their choice entirily so please do go to another seller for your plants!

I was only asking about additional postage, not the original cost,& know that you can fit a few  bromeliad pups in a parcel without actual additional cost. I wasn't abusive & have been "abused" by her twice.

So you can guess I'm devistated about being blocked, have dodged a bullet there. But really, how do some sellers expect to sell without good customer service.

I went on to spend $100 with another, very helpful seller & spent $30 dollars on postage.๐Ÿ˜„ Rant over.

So your question to the board is?

Isn't this a "Discussion Board"?.  Does one have to have a "question"?

Pity you  can't say who, im fond of bromiliads and would hate to deal with such a seller. Most gardening sellers seem quite lovely  iv only had one guy who was very rude so you have been unlucky...hope you enjoy your plants Smiley Very Happy

Okay. What is needing to be discussed?

What's needing to be discussed, or at least acknowledged is the O P' s being abused and blocked by a seller for asking a simple question.

It sure feels to me that now Dave is being a bum as well

So like a man!

I enjoyed the post, nothing like a bit of a gossip.Smiley Very Happy

Seriously though, it sounds as if the seller took your questions the wrong way and thought you were trying out for a better postage rate.

It's a classic case of where limiting their reply to just a factual answer would have been in their best interests.

Plus blocking. There are cases where I can see that blocking a real trouble maker or serial non payer is the way to go, but other than that I think it is counter productive.

If nothing else, the thread is a good lesson about what not to do as a seller.

My take on it was that the OP felt a need to debrief on or discuss the poor response she\he felt they had received from a seller and was perhaps inviting others to comment or discuss.

Rereading the O/post they did actually ask a question, albiet rhetorical ("This is what I got (what did I do? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ)" to open a discussion thread

I enjoyed reading it - always like 'people' stories and what they do and say - but felt no need to contribute to the thread myself.  You have read it and seemingly thought it 'failed' as a post because no question asked - but did feel a need to respond rather than dismissing it as of no interest.  That was interesting to me too.

And to the OP; - that seller really seems to have some issues....at least on the day they responded to you....."good customer service" a foreign concept methinks.

As in life OP, there are a few people in eBay land that can't help but be horrible and rude to others.
