Small and hobby stores is what brings repeat buyers to ebay. When they are gone what will there be? Large stores that get few customers being no more attractive than any other store website or any that you have to jump into the car to visit

Under my store ID I buy components to go towards technical builds that are then sold on ebay and off. As such my buyer feedback is 100 times more than my seller feedback. I will now sell my builds in rotation for free and I will contact all my suppliers and arrange for off ebay supply. there is only so much i am willing to pay for the sake of convenience

with only 2 or 3 sales this year why are you paying for a Store??
stores are for sellers with lots and lots of items listed every week

Unfortunately I didn't read the email and was shocked at the account.  I am devestated!  I have only just reopened my store after a nasty separation, and now I'll have to close it again, as I simply cannot afford this outrageous fee.  What on earth is Ebay playing at???  Obviously they want to get rid of hobby sellers, but why?  Surely they make money for Ebay too?  What they have done is absolutely disgusting, and I hope they lose millions with all the people who will leave because of their greed.  If anyone knows of any good off-Ebay sites, please let me know.

EXACTLY!!! Ebay has not looked properly at the long term repercussions. The buyers are what make ebay exist. It had become a one-stop-shop for anything and everything...big or small. As a buyer, if I wanted to buy anything, new or old, big or small...I could find it on ebay. Now, I will most likely only find big store stuff (which will be now cheaper online somewhere else) or small time second hand stuff. All the in-between stuff will be harder to find due to the smaller stores dropping out (as who will have time to keep re-listing every 10 days and who would bother for just 30 free listings). So as a buyer I will be looking elsewhere for these things. Any store that stays will up the prices to cover the fees. Ebay is no longer a place to find a bargain, so why will buyers go there?.

I thought like a lot of posters here until I did my sums. We have a market site on the weekend and as we live in a regional area the travelling costs can be high. So here are the comparisions that I came up with.

Fuel: per day  average -        $15.00

Insurance per day                 $13.00

    Daily Total                                      $77.00

    Monthly Total                                   77.00 x 4   $308.00

eBay Store per month:          $49.95

Plus of course FVF and PayPal.

ok here is a interesting one - for some reason today I decided to check my ebay account as sales are slow and it's costing the earth to have an ebay store - so I checked store prices and see you can have a Basic Store for $19 95 with 200 free listings - when did this come back!!!  in May 2012 I received an email that all Basic Stores had to go to featured and were to be $49.95  so for the past three years I have been paying $49.95 for a store - TODAY I just went back to a Basic Store for $19.95  so it has cost me an extra $30 per month for Three Years - not real happy about that 😞
