I don't buy that line for a second. They knew a few months ago when they made the changes that they would be increasing the subscription fees.
I knew it was too good to be true. It makes sense to make the jump from ten bucks a month to 50 bucks as painless as possible.

I think it's a combination -- they don't entirely know what they're doing AND they are spin kings when they have to change tack to rectify their missteps.

They really need to employ people who have extensive user experience with their company, not just the minimum-wage kids they seem to be grabbing off the streets.

No offense but I think you're under estimating this billion dollar company.

No offence, but I think they're coasting on their momentum to  a very large extent.

The American version is much better run.

Sorry to drag this convo up again.  But I was just wondering,   is it really only in Australia where the store fees are doubling and its becoming a two tier system??      Because the store fees are not doubling in the states.    So that means Australia has taken 2 hits one in the doubled store fees and also the increased postage.  This puts Ebay.com.au at a huge disadvantage,  why are we being picked on  lol.        Again sorry to bring this sore subject up but I was picking around the US discussion board and just realized.

Yep, these changes will only affect the Australian site and fee structure. It's a lot cheaper to list on the US site, but it's more expensive to sell (from memory it's around 10% FVF on price and P&H, plus slightly higher PayPal fees, which is mandatory in the US).

how about the UK site? I've noticed they allow listing variations for tumbled stones in the metaphysical catagory. I want that >.<</p>

Postage rates have increased worldwide so that is not exclusive to Australia.

I would say the UK and US postal rates have gone up much more than the AU rates.

I have said it before and I will say it again.

Even with the fee increase it is more profitable to sell in Australia than in the UK. I spend slightly longer each year in the UK than Aus but don't bother listing here any more as it just isn't worth the time and effort.

It may be slightly cheaper to trade in the US, I am not going to waste time comparing the higher FVFs with the lower listing fees, but the competition is much stronger and I doubt if it is any more profitable.
