Digi, why would you use EMS when it is handled by Australia Post and Canada Post?

If the parcel is needed urgently I would think a courier service is more likely to be delivered.

Thanks Padi 🙂

Lyndal, ill give them a bell and see what the go is with them into Canada. The couriers are soooooo expensive. I think they know everyone is in a hole at the moment. Buggers!!

I take it no one actually read the announcement posted by lm above. Smiley Tongue

"We've made arrangements for international express and international courier to be sent via an alternative channel, however we are still unable to accept international letters.... " etc.

They are, of course, referring to their own products / services - apologies to melina, I was on my mobile when i posted so I tend to go for brevity when using that (not much of a tapper, lol). EMS is their standard express service. They have a 'courier' service as well, which is supposed to arrive a lot faster.

EMS to Canada for a 500g parcel is about $42 from memory.

I did read it digi but did not realise that EMS was standard international express.

Thanks for the explanation.

I don't know much about express international deliveries.....I have my own personal UPS pilot who delivers parcels to the US and Canada.Smiley Wink

I read it Digi, but thought more recent changes had been applied, because I’d not long be at our LPO and they’d not offered the alternative, which I find really odd considering the relationship we have with them 😔.

Ill be up there again shortly.

Will advise.

Thanks for all your suggestions 😊

Oh, the dearest quote so far - Fedex $561.00 yep, no mistake. The cheapest DHL $140. This is for an AP 500gm satchel weighing 400gm. I’m told considerably cheaper if I’d been an existing customer.

Bye for now 😊

Melina.

I should have included that with Fedex I needed to re-pack into a box 200x200x100.

just be aware, if you do opt to use DHL to canada, the recipient will have to pay taxes on arrival before the item will be delivered to them. like the UK, they have insane inbound taxes on goods bought from abroad.

That applies to any inbound items irrespective of delivery methods.  It would have applied to AP if that had been used.
