I just wish I knew if it was there before I opted into business policies. If I get motivated enough, I'll opt back in to and take a look at which listings are assigned to certain payment policies, as there were multiple listed there when I went to the dashboard. I deleted all policies that weren't being used on any listings, but if the listings that are being affected are all assigned to a specific payment policy, I might be able to solve the issue by deleting that one and assigning the listings to one that doesn't have it. (From the listings I have checked - which wasn't all that many - I found half a dozen that had immediate payment on them, so it seems a fairly small percentage at this point in time).
It's still weird, though - you can't have immediate payment required on a listing that accepts bank deposit (if you actually tick it, all payment options other than PayPal disappear), and these listings still have BD as a payment option.

If it's on listings that have DD as an option that means it's ebay forcing you to have it, in which case it's a bit surprising it's not on all your listings. Under the old system you could only require immediate payment if pp was the only option.
When you first opt into business policies they'll look a bit like a dog's breakfast and you have to clean them up a bit by transferring some listings to other policies. Occasionally they add a few extras that you also have to clean up but it doesn't happen very often. I couldn't go back to not using business policies because they save a lot of work and keep everything neat and tidy.
At the moment I can't think of a simple way to find which listings have immediate payment on them and which don't, but if I do I'll let you know. It sounds like ebay has opted you into IP on some but not on others, in which case probably the only way to take it off is to redo those listings using sell similar from a listing that doesn't have it - unless it's your newest listings they've got it on. I realise you may not want to redo listings if you lose your selling history.
I'd like to remove it just for consistency across my listings, and because purchasing multiple items with a single payment is still not that intuitive for some buyers, but right now it feels a bit more trouble than it's worth (I'd do immediate payment in a heartbeat if my issues with it were resolved, as that's how all my other channels work).
I opted back out of the policies because it wouldn't let me do anything with them except delete, unfortunately - mine's an old-ish account and a lot of the newer (by comparison) features like this are not compatible, though (I also can't use all of the promotions in the promotions manager, which eBay has confirmed is an issue with older accounts 
).

Nah, I looked at a bunch of listings the other night, edited a few of them, got annoyed when I saw it didn't do no good, and haven't done anything about it since.
My work days are more like:
Wake up, make coffee, turn on computer
Answer messages, send messages, drink coffee
Pick orders, create postage labels, address packages
Pack orders, answer messages (as required), create custom-requested listings, pick other orders as / when they come in
Make / drink coffee, peruse the forum if time allows, finalise shipments, leave for post office
Post packages, go sit down, eat something usually
Eventually head home, make coffee, turn on computer, answer messages, create custom listings if required, chuck something in the oven for dinner (I am a big fan of roast veges at the moment, zero prep time, and decent enough of a meal ).
If I have new stock to photograph and list, that'll be done, otherwise I'll open up the streaming service currently subscribed to (I cycle through several, 1-2 months at a time), and get to work on the hand made stuff that's been ordered
Get to bed between 2-3am
Weekends - stare into the void, regret life choices including lazy vege diet (I have anemia, so hairpulling activities need to be kept to a minimum ) and start Daydreaming
