@jfmgray wrote:Just worked it out - eBay is using zonal pricing based on postcodes. For small AP satchels
Same Major City +$8.21
Other Major City +$8.65
Rural +$8.95
Price eBay charges us : Price AP charges eBay (approx)
Same Major City + $8.21 : $5.82
Other Major City + $8.65 : $7.25
Rural + $8.95 : $8.50
As you can see, eBay are doing quite nicely thank you very much.
When you count postage fees in, my best guess is that eBay makes somewhere around $2.80 per small satchel if you buy AP labels from them.
Nice work if you can get it.

EBay and Australia post website would need the weight and size of the item to calculate the postage. If I want to check out the alternate postage at my local post office, the post office staff only weigh the parcel, and never use measuring tapes to check out the size. This is really puzzling. It looks like two different parcel system, online postage and post office postage
That is correct, as has been mentioned on more than one occasion. By me to you, I believe.
If you use standard AP packaging (boxes or satchels) they are flat price up to 5kg. If you don't, you get charged on weight and/or volume.
The trick is to actually read the new postage charges and work out what works for you.
