I too just got a phone call thanking me for my Ebay order of $285 and advising it has been charged to my account.
Please press 1 to speak to Ebay Customer Service.
It was from Mobile 0467 211 639.
I hung up!
Will they never give up.
Annoying

You never know, tazzieterror... These scammers are tenacious. They might have been on hold for five years and have now realised that the callee was never going to come back to the phone...

And some scammers are getting desperate. A recent phone call to inform me there was a problem with my internet came at a time when I'd just sat down with a cup of coffee so I decided to play along. I soon got bored and told the caller there was no point going on with her ridiculous claims. Instead of hanging up she started arguing with me, even shouting that she was a real person (now that I agreed with) and there really was a problem with my internet (which I didn't agree with so I hung up).
But the best ever was the scammer who rang my sister back at 2am one morning, and in reply to her suggestion around 4pm that he F*** O**, he screamed down the line " you very rude F*****g lady" not sure if he stayed on the line long enough to hear her laughter.

and how the scam goes Ebay support someone has purchased a gift card for 250.00 so this is a coutesy call to see if you authorized that. etc etc. they will also want you depending on you phone to download some software. It was at that point I made fun of them
I have called them back 25 times so far because I like to bug them
I have also called one time claiming to be from the ATO ( another scam ) and informed them they are being watched for tax fraud

Just got a phone call ebay customer service. Automated message saying, you have a just purchased a $200 ebay gift card and will be direct debited for this amount. If you did not make this transaction, please call.......... ( was an au area code of 02) but according to telstra it was likely international as they can use an Australian number. Just warning people as most just think dont click links.
I called the number I gad for ebay customer support. They said any call from ebay will also be a record in your ebay email.
So be wary !!!! Its not just links. Should have called back to see the purpose but assuming they would want to confirm bank details lol. Like you would forget buying an ebay gift card. What's odd os how do they know the owner of the number has an ebay account? I gad called customer support a few times in the just fortnight? Wondering if they can be hacking into call history ?
