I've just received a refund request for an item was was sent on 20th September! How on earth is a buyer able to open a case after more than 3 months?

Low value item and no tracking, but how is it possible?

Transaction isn't even in my selling history any more.

Unless eBay gave the buyer a very long ETA (maybe because of no tracking) then I can't see how it's possible either.

Chatted with agent. Pointed out that buyer is not only past 30 days for MBG, but also past 90 days since purchase.

Closed in my favour.

I think the system is still processing the case, but I expect to see it finalised shortly.

It is possible via a few key strokes or mouse clicks.

A buyer is able to open a case... however they will not be able to ask eBay to step in.

Good that you had the case closed.
