Bx1 boxes went up to par with a 1kg satchels recently, so it would definitely pay to check on those.

The pitfalls of dragging up old threads. Not for you - but for those like you who don't read dates and then think the information herein is current or relevant.

Due to the price rise, I now have a bunch of BX1 boxes that rarely get used. I can't find a situation to use them because of one of the following:

  1. The item(s) + box weight goes over the 1KG limit or,
  2. The item(s) is below 1KG but can't fit in the box
  3. The item(s) can be posted at the same price or lower (or slightly higher) using a different method.

Waste of money.

I'm currently on the lowest discount rate. At this level, I don't get much in the way of discounts. Probably the biggest selling point is that the price gap between economy airmail and standard airmail is smaller (because at this level, the discount does not apply to economy airmail).

Another thing is that the discount doesn't apply to country post codes, no matter your level. I thought it applied to all Australian parcels sent.

Can't complain about a free cup of coffee each week I guess.

Ditto, I used to use a couple of them a week, but since 1kg satchels are much cheaper, I can't remember the last time I used one. Even if I need to use a box, I can get sturdy enough BX1 sized ones for much cheaper, that weigh about half as much, then put it in a satchel. I'm not sure why a satchel weighing 1kg and a box weighing 1kg have to be at such different prices, either, particularly given since it weighs less than one of APs boxes, I can fit more in a satchel (by weight).

About the only time I'll use one these days is for sending overseas, where I want the extra sturdiness but the weight of the box isn't going to matter in terms of postage price (which for me it usually does, since if I send through DHL, I get charged by the gram, but occasionally I'll send an EMS package through AP).

I am certain I still get a discount off economy airmail and parcels over 500 grams still get a discount its just the satchels and BX boxes that don't.

I only have 4 left. I will use them if I ever sell the few sets I have that will fit and are worth getting the added protection of having a verifiable recipient address.

You don't have to do a BAS just because you have an ABN. You have to earn over $80k a year on said ABN to need to file a BAS. I worked under my own ABN for years. When I broke the $80k mark the accountant added that and the annoying GST component, and of course the extra quarterly bill for them to file it all for me. /sigh

@hutch441,

The post to which you replied (on this long-dormant thread) was 4 years ago.

You can see the date on which a post or reply was made on the top right of the post.

The issue has long since been addressed and this thread should probably be licked by one of the moderators, as its age would indicate and because much has changed since the thread was last active.

Er... correction... locked, not licked.

Oh, iPhone, you wretch!

'Sok, I've done the report.
