I have been charged a 33.3 % selling fee on my last item. Outrageous !

Maybe let us know how much you sold it for, and how the fee breakdown was done,  we may be able to give some assistance.

London to a brick they used an eBay label and are including the cost of that in their calculation.

That was my guess,  but hoping they would confess

I can only hope it was the buttons. lol

I'm guessing the hat,  the buttons with the postage label would be a fee of over 100%

Just as an interesting aside @1964dragon, who started this thread a few months back and said they were stopping use of Ebay, they still have items listed on Ebay,  plenty of yelling but no action.  All Huff and Puff

I haven't sold on ebay in years but the first thing I'd do if I started again was look at the tables of fees and work out beforehand how much I'd be up for. Then factor that into my asking price.

I used to sell way back in the early-mid 2000s and the fees then soon added up every month. I don't know why you think this was ever a 'free' site for sellers. I can assure you it definitely wasn't.

Ebay isn't greedy but they are in business. If you want to use eg gumtree, that isn't free either if you want to promote your items and if you don't, they soon travel to about eg page 10 and get very few looks.

Marketplace is free but good luck getting your asking price.

And if you go to gumtree or worse still marketplace the amount of scammer goes up 1000%,
