Courier service / freight

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks for any help.

I want to send a big lot of items (around 30-40 things of varying small sizes, probably 8-10kg) that might be just a bit too big to fix in a box. Has anyone had experience in sending freight items like this and which service would you recommend? There appear to be a few options in the eBay Postage Centre that offer tracking an delivery confirmation - Temando, Inter Parcel and Smart Send.

Does AusPost or any of these companies offer a service where they can pick up all of these items from home? How would safe packaging work?

Thanks again...

There are Australia Post Couriers but I am not sure that they do Point to Point work for individuals (i.e. Not sure that they pick up from you and deliver direct to your customer).  I believe you need to have an account with them.

I think your best bet may be Temando as that will give you a choice of courier services for each parcel.

Thanks, lyndal. On second thought, I'll probably just separate them into a few different AusPost boxes and satchels/bags, instead of sending them altogether.

Do you know if AusPost has a vinyl/record-sized satchel that would fit a number of different records?

Are the items all going to the same place,  sorry if I misread, but thats what I assume,  you could easy send 30 or 40 records in one box, Au post has one that would be perfect,  from memory its the B5 size,  I sent 50+ LPs in one lot with no problem at all,  heck of a lot cheaper than posting in small lots.  no risk of damage either.

A B4 box should fit LPs, but you run into the C&S maximum compensation limit of $100. Unless you state 'own packaging', which might cost a bit more but will allow insurance over $100.

Thanks, shypansy. 🙂 Yeah, they were all originally going to be bundled and off to the potential buyer but now I'll just box them separately into two lots to make it easier. I only have a few records so would probably be better with a small satchel-type thing but I can check that out at the post office. The boxes will be for everything else. Thanks for your help, problem solved.

Thanks, dave. I'll take the risk with compensation, even if it's a bit less than the sold price. Haven't had a problem with AusPost yet and aslong as it's sent Registered, it should be fine.

If you can fit them in a B4 box C&S postage is around $17 for a max of 15kg. Add a buck for signature required and you have Paypal acceptable, trackable coverage of $100.

Which would generally mean unless AP lose it totally, you're covered.

Thanks, dave. I'm not a member of Click & Send but that price does sound very good, especially if that's Australia wide.
