It's not a new scam - it's been around for at least a year.

I would of never entered in my details as Im well aware of how Pishing scams work, clicking the link itself would of done no harm either, Only putting in my information would of been the bad bit. I'm just shocked though.. I am aware of these scams have been going on for years.. I've had 1000's in my day... But I just never knew they could be this smart... -_- They did well at playing the customer thats for sure.

As I said, they look for self-selectors. It is not what I would consider smart to claim an INR for something the seller doesn't sell. But that's just me, I'm sure there are plenty of self-selectors who would fall for it. Otherwise the scammers wouldn't keep trying it on.

aren't we supposed to report these scams somewhere?
I mean, not eBay - the police or fraud squad or sumfin?
I know I reported a zillion eBay peeps to the fraud squad for making a profit............
(Disclaimer: just joking on the last line - there's a thread somewhere about profit making being fraud)

Protect yourself from online shopping & auction scams Use your common sense: the offer may be a scam.
You can contact your local office of fair trading, ASIC or the ACCC for assistance.
Do not open suspicious or unsolicited emails (spam): delete them.
Never send your personal, credit card or online account details through an email.

it's not that scammers rely on being smart . . . . they rely on dumb targets.

You should forward a copy to spoof@ebay.com.au (or maybe not the au on the end).
You can also send any dodgy Paypal emails to spoof@paypal.com.au
